Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you may ask what is held about you, have it corrected, and have it deleted. Here is the whole of what this site can hold.
Reading the site
Nothing. No account, no cookie, no advertising identifier, no fingerprint. The page counts we keep are one row per page per day with a number in it, so two people reading an article and one person reading it twice are the same figure — there is no record of you to produce. The advertising is our own, sold by section rather than by audience, and does not know who you are either.
The newsletter
Your email address, encrypted, and the date you confirmed. Nothing else — not what you opened, not what you clicked, because the messages are plain text with nothing in them that could report back.
Comments
The name you chose and what you wrote. We do not ask for an email address, which means we also cannot look up “your” comments — so deleting one is a request rather than a button. Write to us, saying which article and roughly when, and it will be removed.
Who to write to
Every request on this page goes to the editorial team, and the addresses are on the contact page. Say which article and roughly when, or what you would like corrected or deleted, and include enough for us to find it — we cannot look up a person, only a thing they wrote.
